This is the sort of series you need to read in order, well the first two are best read in order. I remember really enjoying the first book. Quite unusual and has quite an unexpectedly emotional ending. I found it very interesting to compare it with earlier espionage stories by writers like Oppenheim, who wrote in a much more romantic vein and also with later writers such as Ian Fleming who took the spy story in a much more glamorous if brutal direction.
